Choose a golf flag display case for the complete flag and the lettering you want to keep visible. Compare accepted flag size, the clear inner face, usable depth and complete outside dimensions separately. A signed edge, sleeve or added scorecard can change the layout even when a product’s nominal flag size appears to match.
A golf pin flag needs its own outline
Record the actual flag in the state you intend to retain. Include its full edges, sleeve, grommets and any raised or attached part. A printed width and height do not describe every edge detail or the thickness of the supported assembly.
Identify the important view: a course design, tournament year, signature or a documented personal round. Mark those areas on a separate reference image. A border that hides the edge can also hide a name or inscription even when the main design remains visible.
Keep the flag’s source and event connection in a separate record. A signed souvenir and a flag personally obtained during a round can both make meaningful displays, but the frame does not establish either history. Engrave only the details you can support.
Choose a whole-flag display or an event composition
Great Golf Memories’ pin-flag category includes regular and float-style frames alongside combined flag and scorecard displays. GolfFlagFrames’ shopping guide separately routes readers to flags, scorecards, scorecard-and-ball frames and tournament packages. Those are different contents briefs.
| Contents | What should remain readable | Receiving question |
|---|---|---|
| Flag alone | The complete chosen flag face and important edges. | Actual inner face, mat overlap and supported depth. |
| Flag and scorecard or photograph | Both objects’ information, with separate captions if needed. | Whole composition area and independent supports. |
| Flag, ball and event record | Flag lettering plus a separately seated ball and paper item. | Ball projection and holder, as well as the flat flag area. |
Start with paper outlines rather than repeatedly folding or fastening the actual flag. Leave the important signed edge visible in the proposed composition. If the plan needs a tighter fold, consider another frame or a different composition before changing the collected textile.
Compare the boundary each number describes
The following descriptions were read on 18 October 2026. They are supplier specifications and examples, without physical fit or mounting tests by DisplayCasePro.
| Listing | Published figures | Unresolved detail |
|---|---|---|
| Great Golf Memories Pin Flag Display Case | Described for flags up to 14 × 20 in; case H21 × W27 × D2 in. | Case size boundary and clear depth above the finished backing. |
| Michaels item 639968681006219271 | Inside face 18 × 24 in; overall 19.5 × 25.5 in; usable depth 7/8 in. | The actual mount, frame opening and complete flag with retained parts. |
| Homeplate Heroes custom case | Example flag W18 × H13.25 in; pictured case W24.75 × H20 in; approximately 2 in border. | Current custom finished size, inside face and numeric usable depth. |
Great Golf Memories’ exact case listing calls 14 × 20 inches its accepted upper flag size and gives the separate case dimensions above. The product URL includes “blk” while its visible SKU ends “CHE.” Confirm the chosen finish and product identity instead of assuming the URL alone identifies the current configuration.
The Michaels product description supplies more specific boundaries: an 18 × 24-inch interior, a 3/4-inch moulding face and 7/8-inch usable depth. It describes a 14 × 20-inch sample with a two-inch border. That border is a sample layout, not additional usable depth or a universal allowance for all flags.
Homeplate Heroes says the finished case depends on the flag dimensions requested from the buyer. Its pictured example is not an interchangeable specification for every custom order. Obtain the drawing for your complete flag and contents before using the example’s outside width and height in a wall plan.
Backing, attachments and the ball need separate decisions
A suede-covered or pinnable background describes a surface, not a complete textile-support specification. Ask which mounting method is intended for your actual flag, how it carries the fabric and which areas it contacts. Keep fastening away from a signature or important detail, and resolve condition concerns before choosing the mount.
Homeplate Heroes describes an included framer’s tack board and a front-opening door. That is useful package information, but it is not universal permission to pierce any original flag. An important or vulnerable textile can need an individually designed support.
CustomPictureFrames’ golf category explicitly says buyers supply their own cradles or mounting hardware for combined layouts. A ball in the composition therefore needs its actual holder and supported depth in the enquiry. A frame described for several golf objects does not automatically supply every mount.

Plan the complete wall outline and the opening
Use the complete outside dimensions for the wall plan, then add the exact opening route required by the selected product. A front door and a rear-loading frame need different access. A neighboring display can leave room for the closed case while blocking its door.
Confirm the finished backing-to-glazing distance for the actual mount. A folded edge or ball support can project farther than the flag’s center. Do not use the glazing to press the textile or a companion object into place.
Follow the selected case’s wall instructions for the actual wall and loaded assembly. The listing’s included hardware or UV language does not resolve every installation or textile-care question.
Use the pin-flag layout and receiving worksheet to keep the accepted flag size, inner face and usable depth distinct. The collection wall planner helps position confirmed whole cases; the usable depth guide explains the finished depth boundary.
Common questions
Does a frame for a 14 × 20-inch flag have a 14 × 20-inch interior?
Check the exact specification. Accepted flag size and case interior are different measurements in the examples above.
Can the same depth hold a flag and a golf ball?
Confirm the ball’s complete supported projection. The flag’s flat outline does not answer that depth question.
