Choose an Eagle Scout award display case around the recognition you want to show: a medal and pins, an intact merit-badge sash, a certificate, or a larger group with a folded flag. Certificate frames, presentation boxes and flag-and-awards cases offer different receiving spaces. Start with that choice before ordering a frame carrying an Eagle Scout name.
Choose the recognition format before filling a frame
List the actual items you want visible and the ones that can remain in a separate box. A focused medal-and-certificate arrangement can explain one achievement clearly; an intact sash records a different part of the Scout’s experience. Neither requires including every souvenir from the same years.
The Scout Shop’s February 2025 award-kit article lists an antique-finish medal, cloth rank emblem, two parent pins, a mentor pin and a presentation box. Check your actual kit and who retains each pin. A pin presented to a parent or mentor is not automatically another object to place in the Scout’s own frame.
The article’s later quiz mentions a certificate inconsistently with its bulleted contents. Treat the certificate as a separately confirmed object rather than assuming it arrives in every kit. A presentation box also has its own dimensions and appearance; decide whether you want to retain that complete assembly or commission a different display.
The sources describe gifts, custom layouts and flag cases
The descriptions below were reviewed on 19 October 2026. They have different purposes and are not five equivalent cases. DisplayCasePro has not physically tested their fit, mounting systems or protective performance.
| Source | Format described | Confirm for your display |
|---|---|---|
| The Military Gift Store | A wood flag-and-awards case with glass front and velvet background. | Flag compartment, clear depth and selected backing. |
| Shadowbox Guru | Custom Scout layouts with sashes, badges, pins and optional flags. | The receiving layout for your complete objects. |
| Scout Shop Home | A household-gift catalogue containing frames and memory boxes. | The exact product leaf, rather than a category label. |
| Customframes | Certificate, sash, medallion, photo and keepsake gift formats. | Which format receives the actual recognition group. |
| Flags Connections | A Scout deluxe flag-and-awards case. | Usable flag bay and depth above the finished backing. |
Shadowbox Guru’s gallery includes a 16 × 24 × 2.5 caption without explicit units, axis labels or an inside/outside definition. Keep it as a caption for that example, not a standard size for all Eagle Scout sashes or award groups.
Check the certificate window and depth on the exact SKU
Scout Shop’s catalogue brings together two certificate frames and a memory box. Their names and dimensions do not make them interchangeable. The published frame sizes below are not labelled clear viewing windows or usable three-dimensional cavities.
| Exact item | Published information | Question still open |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate frame 664378 | 16 × 17 in title; certificate presentation and hanging hardware. | Actual document opening, border overlap and usable depth. |
| Certificate frame 664377 | 12 × 12 in square format; certificates, patches or mementos mentioned. | Which inserts and projecting objects the selected version accepts. |
| Memory box 663955 | Solid pine, hinges and side handles; 16 × 8¾ × 10½ in size string. | Unlabelled axes and inside/outside boundary; no glazed viewing front specified. |
Measure the actual certificate and tell the framer which printed borders must remain visible. The square frame’s reference to patches does not establish clearance for a medal, suspension bar or rear clutch. The memory box supplies another storage route without supplying a shadow-box window specification.
Keep an intact sash and a projecting medal as different assemblies

Plan an existing merit-badge sash as one complete cloth assembly, including its current badges and any intended drape. A count of individual badges cannot specify the space occupied by that sash. Keep its existing attachments recorded when asking a framer to prepare the display.
For the medal and separate pins, record both faces of the finished mounting arrangement. The visible medal and its suspension project in front; a pin or clutch may need space behind the mounting surface. A decorative fabric background does not identify either the attachment system or the room available behind it.
Give a certificate or photograph its own receiving area. It should not become the surface through which other objects are attached simply because the composition looks balanced on paper. Resolve the actual support and backing with the selected framer before fixing the layout.
Reserve the flag bay before arranging the surrounding awards
The Military Gift Store and Flags Connections both publish an 18 in W × 20 in H × 3 in D size line and separately identify an 18 × 20 in inside face. That shared wording does not establish three inches of clear interior depth or two independent measurements.
The listings describe an optional folded 3 × 5 ft flag. This is an unfolded flag category, not the folded triangle’s receiving dimensions. Neither cited main description provides a complete usable flag-compartment drawing. Request that drawing for the chosen case rather than laying badges across a nominal full interior rectangle.
Mark the flag bay, sash or medal zone and any engraving as distinct parts of the proposed layout. Confirm the actual folded flag and its support separately. A photograph of one filled Scout case does not establish room for your certificate, sash and flag together.
Keep the presentation useful after the ceremony
Decide whether the medal, pins or complete kit will need to come out again. Identify the normal opening and whether the backing must be removed from the wall to reach its fittings. Include a supported place for the contents during that process, rather than planning only the closed front view.
Keep names, dates and troop details with the correct objects before approving permanent engraving. A display can record the achievement without reproducing an official uniform arrangement. Material, light-filtering and dust claims also need their own product documentation; a gift description is not a preservation test.
Use the Scout format and receiving-space worksheet with the collection measurement guide and shadow box depth guide. For several separate frames, the collection wall guide helps plan the complete wall footprint.
