A display case for LEGO Hogwarts Icons Collectors' Edition 76391 needs to receive a whole ensemble: Hedwig's spread wings, the letter, the surrounding mementos and the golden minifigure display. Measuring only the central stack leaves the widest and most visible parts out of the decision.
Choose the actual arrangement and viewing side before comparing cases. Then check the usable interior, complete base footprint and the route for lifting a cover past the wing tips. A case height and an owl height alone do not establish that route.
This is the Icons ensemble, rather than a castle or a single owl
The official 76391 description places Hedwig holding a Hogwarts invitation above a group that includes a wand, glasses, potion tray, diary, Golden Snitch and customizable scarf. Three golden anniversary minifigures have their own display stand. The published ensemble reference is over H44 × W50 × D33 cm.
Keep those dimensions with the full set identity. A case for another Hedwig model, Hogwarts Castle or a related Harry Potter build is a different product. Similar imagery or a shared theme does not supply the intended receiving layout for 76391.
The reference is also not a dimensioned drawing of every arrangement you can make from the mementos. If you reposition pieces, add a nameplate or introduce a support, record the resulting complete outline rather than assuming the reference still describes it.
Draw the wing tips and front objects as separate boundaries
Start with a top-view plan. Mark the farthest wing tips, the central stack and the objects extending toward the front. Add the golden figures and their stand in the positions you actually want. A figure count does not say where those pieces fit on a case base.
Check the letter from the normal viewing position. A low case placed high on a shelf can obscure its lower face; an object placed directly in front can hide part of it. Decide what should remain readable before choosing a rear print or foreground arrangement.
Keep the scarf and loose mementos within the same plan. If they sit apart from the central model, their combined floor area matters. Do not treat a visible gap beneath a wing as free storage without checking the actual object, its support and the cover path.
For a freestanding display, consider the side views as well as the front. The broad wings may make the front composition convincing while the smaller pieces disappear behind one another from another approach. A simple arrangement sketch helps identify the preferred view before artwork closes off the rear.
Inside height and outside height answer different questions
These five supplier pages were read in October 2026. Their dimensions are attributed specifications, not our measurements, physical tests or product rankings. Preserve the stated units and axes.
| Case | Published figures | Check before selection |
|---|---|---|
| Wicked Brick | External W56 × D38 × H45.8 cm. | Studded tiered base and lift-off surround. Ask for usable height above the finished model-supporting surface. |
| Flying Box | Case L22 × W15 × H18 in; separate base 22.5 × 15.5 in. | Case inside/outside is unlabelled. Include the larger base in the furniture footprint. |
| shopPOPdisplays | Approximately external, including base: H18 × W23 × D16 in. | Black base included; studs and stand excluded. Obtain the actual cavity and intended retained supports. |
| FantasMall | Listed internal: 50 × 40 × 50 cm; also shown as 20 × 16 × 20 in. | Axis order is unlabelled and paired units are rounded. Ask for one labelled drawing for the selected version. |
| iDisplayit | Inside L52 × W39 × H47 cm; outside L54 × W41 × H48 cm. | 65 × 48-stud area and 16 fittings. Confirm the ensemble's actual positions and opening path. |
Wicked Brick's 45.8 cm exterior is not 1.8 cm of confirmed room above LEGO's “over 44 cm” reference. The measurements use different boundaries, and the model reference is not an exact maximum. Request the finished clear height rather than deriving a margin from them.
FantasMall explicitly calls its size internal, but does not label each axis in the sequence read. Keep the centimetre and inch lines as published alternatives; do not combine numbers from both into a more precise-looking cavity. Its general approximate outside-size guidance is not a substitute for a complete product drawing.
The LEGO figure stand and the case base are different components
List what remains from the LEGO build and what the enclosure supplies. The anniversary figure stand, a case's black floor, an information plaque and locating studs can be four different things. One does not imply that the others are included.
shopPOPdisplays explicitly excludes studs and a stand while including a black base. Ask which stand that exclusion concerns and how the intended arrangement is received; do not assume it instructs you to remove an original LEGO component.
Wicked Brick describes embedded studs and a magnetic two-tier base. Obtain the intended locations before choosing to move a memento. iDisplayit's separate 65 × 48-stud statement is useful floor information, but does not itself describe the wing outline, clear height or locating pattern for every object.
The authorized CubeBuff cover image shows one illustrated Icons arrangement. It supplies visual context for the broad wings and foreground mementos, rather than a dimensional test or an inclusion list for the cases above.

Check the complete surround's route past both wings
Wicked Brick describes lifting the surround from its grooves. iDisplayit describes securing the top to the surrounding panels, then placing that assembly over the base. For either, check the route around the full spread-wing profile and reserve a suitable resting place for the removed cover.
Do not use an apparent gap at one wing tip to approve the whole operation. The opposite tip, rear fittings or a high object can define another limiting point. Obtain the intended sequence and clear route for the actual enclosure rather than bending or repositioning pieces to force it.
iDisplayit advises against relocating its case with contents inside. Plan the location before filling it and retain that restriction. A case designed to display an ensemble is not automatically a transport system for it.
For backgrounds, distinguish appearance from function. iDisplayit's optional rear is described as pre-applied vinyl; FantasMall says the background cannot be removed on background versions. Neither a printed candle nor UV-printing terminology documents an electric light kit or tested UV filtering.
Use the Icons ensemble worksheet for wing tips, mementos, figure stand and case boundaries. The LEGO shelf case guide covers placement; the display lighting guide covers reflections and viewing.
Common questions
Is a case labelled Hedwig enough to identify this set?
Confirm 76391 and its complete ensemble. Other owl builds and Harry Potter displays have different intended receiving layouts.
Can I calculate wing clearance from the official width?
Use the actual chosen arrangement and a labelled cavity. A reference width does not establish cover movement or exact margins at both tips.
Does a black case base replace the golden-figure stand?
Confirm the contents and intended layout separately. A floor, locating studs and the original LEGO stand serve different purposes.
