Sunglasses Display Cases: Folded Frames, Stands and Capacity

Compare sunglasses display boxes, tiers and racks. Check folded frames, support spacing, visible pairs versus drawer storage, and the opening around each pair.

Sunglasses Display Cases: Folded Frames, Stands and Capacity

Choose a sunglasses display case for the complete frames in their intended position: folded into compartments, open on a stand or arranged on visible tiers. The number of pairs stored is not always the number shown through the cover. Check the frame shape, supported position and opening before treating a nominal capacity as a collection layout.

The frame's labelled size is not its complete display profile

Start with the sunglasses as you intend to place them. Record the full front width, highest point and front-to-back extent, including the folded temples or the open arms. A model's lens or bridge measurement does not describe that complete supported shape.

For a compartment box, identify the folded position and the space occupied by both temples. A wraparound frame can occupy a different depth from a flatter front even when both look similar from above. Include a retained case or sleeve only if it will be part of the visible arrangement.

For an open stand or a tiered display, establish the intended receiving points and whether the arms remain open or folded. Use the support maker's instructions rather than choosing contact points solely to reproduce a photograph. The lenses should not become an improvised support because the intended fixture is missing.

For several pairs, keep individual records. An oversized frame and a compact pair may not share the same support spacing. A cabinet's six positions are a proposed layout, not evidence that every six-frame combination will fit without overlap.

Choose between folded storage and a front-facing collection

The Subastral eyewear category includes retail showcases, open rotating racks and wall units. These are different physical formats. A floor rack described by frame count is not an individual covered box for a home dresser.

TechSwiss's eyewear category also includes mixed-accessory valets for watches, pens, jewellery and glasses. A general large compartment does not establish how many sunglasses it accepts or which part supports a curved frame. Request the exact internal arrangement of the selected model.

Count the pairs visible through the cover separately

Holme & Hadfield's Sun Deck illustrates this distinction. Its main description says up to six pairs: four on the upper display and two in the drawer. Its FAQ instead says six to seven overall, with two to three in the drawer. Both descriptions identify four upper display positions.

Do not turn the larger FAQ number into seven visible positions. Keep the consistent four-pair upper display separate from the conflicting drawer capacity. Ask about the intended drawer arrangement for your frames, particularly if other accessories will share it.

The same page is marked discontinued. It is useful here as a documented layout example, not a recommendation that a particular version is currently available. Confirm the actual model and supply status before relying on its photographs or specifications for a purchase.

A drawer can be valuable for rotation without adding to the group on show. Assign return positions to the pairs kept below, and record any original individual cases separately. This prevents the overall storage figure from becoming a misleading description of the visible collection.

Keep case size, rack count and supplied stock in different fields

The following source pages were read on 17 October 2026. Their descriptions have not been verified by hands-on frame-fit, load or protection tests.

Three examples that answer different capacity questions
ExamplePublished informationUnresolved detail
Sun Deck10.6 × 7.4 × 6.9 inches; four pairs displayed above, additional drawer storage. Hinged acrylic cover; no lock in the FAQ.The size sequence is not labelled as an interior or given explicit axes. Obtain usable platform and drawer dimensions.
BlackFlys 16 Pc. Sunglass DisplayA lockable acrylic sixteen-piece display case.No numerical interior or support spacing is provided in the main description.
Shark Eyes POLDISPLAYCategory card describes an open rotating display for 24 pairs, display only.Confirm the actual loaded outline, receiver spacing and accepted frame types.

The Sun Deck's size sequence describes the product, but it does not provide an empty compartment or a supported-frame limit. Do not treat its listed 6.9-inch dimension as clear height above every platform or subtract an imagined shelf thickness to create one.

A lockable case can have a completely different access routine from a hinged cover without a lock. Confirm the BlackFlys case's opening method and the location of each pair rather than assuming its sixteen-piece name describes sixteen identical clear compartments.

Retail bundles also require careful reading. Shark Eyes lists a bundle labelled 48PC DISP + 144 PCS SPORT ASSTD. Keep the fixture label and the supplied assortment separate; that wording does not measure how many of your own frames fit. Buying stock for replenishment does not make all of it visible at once. Record supplied stock and usable positions independently in a home collection plan too.

Plan the lens view and the route past neighbouring frames

Choose the view you want to retain: front shape, side details or a maker mark on a temple. An open-arm position may show that side detail but need more space. A folded arrangement can make a larger group easier to organize while showing a different part of each pair.

Check the intended support against the actual frame. A fabric or felt description does not independently establish compatibility with every lens coating, frame finish or decorative fitting. For valuable or fragile eyewear, resolve contact questions with the relevant maker or an appropriate specialist.

Follow each frame's normal hinge movement. Do not force a temple inward or change the frame's shape to make an uncertain compartment work. Measure the actual resting arrangement and choose a suitable receiving space instead.

Visible positions and drawer storage are different counts. Invented frames and supports do not reproduce the Sun Deck, specify lens contacts or demonstrate measured fit.

Work through removal at the planned location. A hinged lid needs its opening space, while an open rack needs room to lift or withdraw the complete frames. A pair that can be placed on an empty stand may be harder to retrieve after neighbouring positions are filled.

Review the finished arrangement from the normal viewing height. Reflections in the cover and lenses can obscure details even when the frames fit. The display lighting guide covers that separate decision without treating lighting as a protection claim.

Use the sunglasses position and capacity worksheet to record folded profile, support, visible position and separate storage. A transparent case does not establish scratch prevention, airtightness or suitability for every coating simply because those benefits appear in marketing text.

Common questions

Does a six-pair case show six pairs at once?

Check its layout. A product may combine visible upper positions with concealed drawer storage, and its different sections can have different limits.

Can I choose a compartment from lens width alone?

Record the whole frame in its intended folded or supported position. The temples, curve and retained accessories also occupy space.

Does a retail assortment count describe rack capacity?

Keep the supplied stock and the number of display positions separate. A replenishment bundle can contain more pairs than the fixture shows at once.
