Choose a LEGO Taj Mahal display case by set number before comparing sizes. Architecture 21056 and the much larger Creator Expert models require different receiving spaces. Keep the complete platform, minarets and finials in the display record, then decide how you will reach any removable model sections.
The landmark name does not identify the model
| Set | Published model reference | Display task |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture 21056 | Specifications paragraph: H20 × W23 × D23 cm. | Small model with domes, chhatris, minarets and a central chamber removable to view the crypt. |
| Creator Expert 10256 | Descriptive reference over H43 × W51 × D51 cm. | Large platform and decorative finials; the model divides into seven modular sections. |
| 10189 | The shopPOPdisplays listing below names it alongside 10256; no independent numeric model reference is assigned here. | Confirm your actual older set against that supplier's stated compatibility and receiving drawing. |
The model references are not case interiors. LEGO's 21056 page also has a promotional feature line describing a width over 24 cm, alongside the 23 cm specification paragraph. Do not merge these rounded blocks into a precise cutting size; retain the source definition and check your completed arrangement.
For 10256, the seven-section construction is a model feature, not a guarantee that an enclosing display can be carried with the model inside. The older 10189 number in a supplier's compatibility line also does not independently prove identical receiving geometry between two sets.
Keep the whole platform and highest finial together
Begin with the actual set number from the box, instructions or reliable collection record. Photograph the complete model with its platform and all intended surrounding pieces. A dome silhouette alone is insufficient when product results mix different Taj Mahal sizes.
Choose a front or three-quarter view that shows the architecture you value. Include the minarets at the corners and the finials above domes and towers in the receiving outline. A platform that sits comfortably on the case floor does not establish clearance around every upper detail.
For a changed scene, add its full outline to the enquiry: an extended garden, extra label, light fittings or another model is a separate arrangement. Keep those additions explicit rather than treating a standard set-fit statement as permission for every custom display.
Keep the target set in every comparison row
The descriptions below were read on 17 October 2026. They include products for both model sizes; they are not five interchangeable options. The shopPOPdisplays figures came from its readable indexed product description while direct access was unavailable. Confirm the current order specification; no case was physically tested here.
| Exact product and set | Published dimensions | Boundary to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Wicked Brick 21056, LDS334.1.7 | External W31 × D31 × H23.3 cm. | Small-set case; request usable space above its tiered base. |
| Brickcessories, heading names 21056 | Assembled 270 × 270 × 240 mm. | Axes and inside/outside are not labelled. The URL contains 10256 despite the 21056 heading and description. |
| FantasMall 10256 | 54 × 54 × 45 cm; FAQ calls labelled dimensions internal. | Large-set case. The metric sequence does not explicitly name its axes; obtain the selected finished exterior. |
| shopPOPdisplays 10189/10256, P_21023 | Approximate external size including base H19 × W22 × D22 in. | Large-set compatibility is the supplier's statement. Obtain a labelled receiving cavity for your actual model. |
| iDisplayit 21056 | Internal L26 × W26 × H24 cm; external L28 × W28 × H25 cm. | Small-set case with a separate 32 × 32-stud reference and black or white base. |
A small case's 24 cm interior and a large case's 45 cm internal sequence belong to different models. They are not simply two preferred amounts of spare headroom. First establish the target set, then compare matching measurement definitions for that complete scene.
Likewise, an external height cannot be reduced by a guessed sheet or base thickness to produce a verified interior. Cover seating, base tiers and fittings need their own reference surfaces. The complete-collection measuring guide covers keeping those boundaries consistent.
Resolve a conflicting URL or a missing axis explicitly
The Brickcessories page is a useful identity check: its address contains 10256, while its current heading and body specify 21056. Preserve that discrepancy in an enquiry. The address alone should not convert a small-set 270 mm sequence into evidence for the large model.
For FantasMall, keep the centimetre sequence with the FAQ's internal label and request named axes. Do not combine its rounded inch equivalents with the metric figures to calculate exact clearance. Its general approximate exterior offsets are also insufficient to define the selected complete case for furniture.
Choose the rear treatment for the views you want. Wicked Brick describes a vinyl background option; Brickcessories describes a preprinted location-inspired rear, and FantasMall describes a nonremovable painted rear. Those descriptions do not make the options identical or prove that a graphic adds physical depth.

A removable chamber and a modular large model differ
For 21056, decide whether the normal display remains closed or occasionally shows the crypt after removing the central chamber according to the model instructions. Plan that activity separately from the resting arrangement. Closed-case dimensions do not establish room to lift every dome or section inside.
For 10256, record whether all seven modules stay joined in the final scene. If any section is separated for a different presentation, include its complete position and appropriate support. A large surrounding box does not supply that support or establish a new modular layout.
Wicked Brick describes a lift-off clear case. iDisplayit describes assembling the 21056 side panels with eight screws, placing a lid on top, and locating the clear surround over the model on the base. Obtain the selected product's actual routine for access, rather than assume a lid-assembly sentence specifies the path of a LEGO chamber.
Leave appropriate resting places for removed enclosure and model components at the intended location. The LEGO shelf-case guide covers the whole enclosure and furniture; the Taj Mahal set and access worksheet keeps identity, source definitions, platform and remaining questions together.
Common questions
Is a case called Taj Mahal enough?
Confirm the exact set number and package. The cited small 21056 and large 10256/10189 products have different receiving tasks.
Does the Brickcessories URL prove it fits 10256?
Its heading and description identify 21056. Ask the supplier to confirm the intended model instead of relying on the address token.
Can the domes lift off inside a closed case?
The published dimensions do not establish that operation. Confirm the exact outer-case opening and the model's intended section route.
