Choose a LEGO Piranha Plant display case for the pose you intend to keep, rather than the pipe alone. Set 71426 has a movable head, mouth, stalk and leaves. The selected outline, pipe position and two coins need separate answers before an enclosure’s dimensions become useful.
The head and leaves belong in the receiving outline
LEGO’s official 71426 feature description identifies a posable head, mouth, stalk and leaves, a brick-built pipe and two coin elements. Those features make a pose-specific receiving check more useful than a general height comparison. This guide does not assign an official numerical model size where the inspected specification section supplied none.
Choose the head direction and open or closed mouth under the model instructions. Include the outer edge of each jaw and the furthest part of the leaves, not just the face seen from the front. A head reaching forward can change the depth question without changing the pipe’s footprint.
Record the complete build from the front and side in that chosen state. Keep the support surface, pipe, stalk, leaves and head in one outline. If you expect to alternate between two poses, record both rather than assuming a case made for one promotional photograph receives every position.
A pipe cutout can locate the model’s base while leaving the upper pose unresolved. Ask the case maker which arrangement was used for its receiving drawing. Do not push leaves against a panel or close the mouth merely to compensate for an unknown cavity.
Two coins do not imply two positions on every case base
| Part | What to identify | Supplier question |
|---|---|---|
| Pipe | The actual bottom and any intended locating cutout. | Does this exact base locate the pipe, or is it a plain floor? |
| Head and leaves | The entire selected pose above the pipe. | What usable space remains around that pose? |
| Coins | Positions in the scene or on separately supplied supports. | Where are the coin holders on this specific case? |
Wicked Brick’s 71426 case describes a cutout base and coin studs on the rear panel. Keep those locations distinct. Its magnetically joined base tiers describe the enclosure’s construction; they do not establish that the plant itself attaches magnetically.
Flying Box’s description explicitly says its base has no studs. Do not borrow rear-panel coin positions from another supplier or assume the two coins have designated seats on this plain floor. Ask how the intended complete scene is received.
Inside dimensions and outside dimensions answer different questions
The five product descriptions below were read on 18 October 2026. They are source specifications, without a physical fit, articulation or protection test by DisplayCasePro.
| Product | Published figures | Boundary to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Wicked Brick 71426 | W21 × D17 × H29.3 cm. | Axes are stated; inside/outside boundary is not. |
| iDisplayit 71426 | Inside L18 × W18 × H24 cm; outside L20 × W20 × H25 cm. | Separate labelled receiving and exterior rows. |
| Flying Box 71426 | Case L8.5 × W6.5 × H10.5 in; base 9 × 7 in. | Case boundary unstated; the separate base is larger. |
| Kingdom Brick Supply 71426 | Approximate inside L20 × W16.8 × H26.4 cm; outside L21.5 × W18.3 × H27.0 cm. | Approximate inside and outside remain distinct. |
| Blacked Brick 71426 | External W22 × D16 × H27 cm. | Exterior only; request the clear usable cavity. |
iDisplayit also gives a 22 × 22-stud floor reference, while Kingdom Brick Supply gives 24 × 20 studs. Neither count describes the entire articulated plant. Use the labelled inside dimensions with the selected pose and intended support, rather than ranking fit by stud count.
Blacked Brick identifies a cutout base, optional printed rear and plaque. Its external size does not reveal the receiving boundary around the leaves. Retain that missing field instead of subtracting guessed panel thickness or importing a different supplier’s interior.
For shelf placement, retain Flying Box’s complete 9 × 7-inch base as well as its narrower case line. A case fitting within a shelf rectangle does not establish that an overhanging base or opening route fits the same location.
Choose a backdrop after choosing the head direction
A printed rear can create a scene behind the plant, while a transparent rear leaves the room visible. Look at the intended jaw direction and leaf edges against that choice. Rear coin supports, a plaque and a printed image can affect the composition without changing the model’s physical outline.
Ask which background and locating parts belong to the selected version. A decorative back is not evidence of extra clearance, and one maker’s rear coin studs do not become a feature of all 71426 cases. Keep the exact product and options together in the order record.

A change of pose may require the surround to come away first
Ask how the enclosure opens before planning to adjust the mouth or leaves inside it. iDisplayit describes a clear surround placed over the model. The route for removing that surround is additional to the space occupied by the closed display.
Keep a resting place for the removed panel or surround, then follow the model’s instructions for adjustments. Do not treat a tall case as permission to reach through narrow gaps or pull on the head while the pipe is obstructed.
Use the Piranha Plant pose, pipe and coin worksheet for each intended arrangement. The collection measurement guide explains consistent reference surfaces; the LEGO shelf case guide covers the complete enclosure’s furniture position.
Common questions
Does a case naming 71426 receive every plant pose?
Obtain confirmation for the chosen head, jaw, stalk and leaf arrangement. Set compatibility and a pipe locator do not specify every articulated outline.
Are the coins always attached to the base?
Check the exact product. The sampled descriptions include rear-panel coin studs at one supplier and a specifically unstudded base at another.
