Plan a LEGO MINI Cooper display case around the 10242 scene you want to see: roof fitted, roof removed, or a picnic beside the car. Then decide whether the model rests on its wheels or on the exact supplied stand. The removed roof, basket and blanket are real parts of the arrangement, not automatic spare space beneath an angled vehicle.
Keep the Mk VII and its complete chosen state together
LEGO’s official US 10242 description identifies the classic MINI Cooper Mk VII with opening doors, hood and trunk, a removable roof and a separate spare-tire compartment. It also names a picnic basket and blanket. Its model reference is over H4 × L9 × W5 in.
Retain those qualified inch figures as a model reference, rather than replacing them with exact converted measurements. They do not describe a supported car, a detached roof beside it or every open-panel state. Record the actual complete scene for the case enquiry.
A side profile emphasizes the green bodywork, white roof and mirrors. A higher view can make the interior easier to see when the roof is already removed. Choose the intended shelf and viewing direction before deciding which details should remain visible every day.
A roof-off car and a picnic scene need different floor plans
| Presentation | Keep in the outline | Ask separately |
|---|---|---|
| Complete car on its wheels | Roof, mirrors and chosen doors, hood and trunk state. | Clear receiving space above the finished case floor. |
| Interior and picnic on view | The remaining car, removed roof, basket and blanket in real positions. | Support and floor area for each retained separate piece. |
| Raised car | The exact stand and complete supported car, with selected extras. | Included support, intended contacts and the whole receiving outline. |
Decide which picnic pieces stay stored and which appear outside the car. If the roof is kept elsewhere, say so; if it remains on display, give it a position. Do not assume an information-plaque area or an empty patch beneath a stand was designed to receive it.
An already open trunk is a selected static scene. Reaching into it or changing the roof after closing the case also needs an opening routine and hand approach. The model’s removable features do not establish that they can be operated beneath any cover.
Separate the inside dimensions from outside and unlabelled figures
These five descriptions were read on 18 October 2026. The shopPOPdisplays original-page record was reported as crawled 1.1 years earlier, so confirm its current package and drawing. This comparison records source descriptions rather than physical fit tests or ranked recommendations.
| Source | Published size or contents | Keep unresolved |
|---|---|---|
| Wicked Brick | External W40 × D25 × H23 cm; angled-presentation wording. | Exact support, posed car and usable cavity. |
| shopPOPdisplays P_21054 | Approx. external including base H9.7 × W16 × D8.5 in; clear stand included. | Current selected construction and complete supported arrangement. |
| iDisplayit | Inside L32 × W21 × H16 cm; outside L34 × W23 × H17 cm. | Selected base and actual roof/picnic state. |
| Brick In It | Product W29 × D22 × H14 cm. | Inside/outside unlabelled; clear cavity and support package. |
| Laser Frame | Internal stand, etched plaque, 3 mm clear panels and 3 mm black base. | No numerical cavity or support angle in the read product detail. |
iDisplayit’s labelled 16 cm interior height is a different specification from Brick In It’s unclassified 14 cm product height. Neither establishes clearance for removing the roof or adding another maker’s support. Keep the full actual scene and the receiving floor datum attached to the enquiry.
Wicked Brick describes a two-tier 10 mm magnetic base and separately lists a 5 mm base plate in its materials. Request its completed base and support definition; subtracting a guessed stack from the external height does not produce a verified cavity.
An included stand and a stand-only purchase have different contents
shopPOPdisplays explicitly describes a clear stand with its case and offers ready-to-assemble or permanently assembled versions. Laser Frame also expressly names an internal stand. Their descriptions do not provide the same receiving dimensions or establish a shared support angle.
The authorized CubeBuff 10242 product instead supplies an open stand, without an acrylic enclosure or separate information plaque. Its stand-only figures are W34 × D20 × H5 cm; its with-collectible figures are W34 × D20 × H15 cm. Those different scopes are not roof-off picnic dimensions or proof of compatibility inside a compared case.

Choose the view before choosing a printed rear
Brick In It offers a clear or printed rear, while Wicked Brick offers its own themed background. Check the intended interior and picnic view against that surface. A printed scene changes the view through the back; it does not identify an access door or add working space.
Wicked Brick describes lifting the surround from its base grooves. Plan its route past any already raised hood, plus a place for the surround and removed roof to rest. For other products, obtain their own opening instructions before relying on occasional model access.

Common questions
Does a 10242 case include somewhere for the removed roof?
Do not infer a roof holder from unused-looking floor space. Record the chosen roof location and confirm the complete scene.
Does an angled-car photograph establish a stand is included?
Read the selected contents. A case with a named support and an open stand sold without an enclosure are different packages.
