Choose a LEGO Insect Collection display case around the three complete habitats in set 21342 and the poses you want to keep. An open raised stand can reorganize the group, but it also changes the outline that an outer cover must receive. Compare the whole display rather than one insect’s height or the stand’s lower footprint.
Keep the three habitats in the display record
LEGO’s official 21342 description identifies a blue morpho butterfly, a Hercules beetle and a Chinese mantis in buildable habitats. They can be shown separately or together. The butterfly has adjustable wings, the beetle has attachable wings and horns, and the mantis is poseable.
The official descriptive reference of over H18 × W17 × D16 cm applies to the Chinese mantis model. It is not a measurement of the complete three-habitat arrangement. Keep the metric reference together; a rounded inch widget on the same page supplies no more precise combined outline.
Choose whether the insects remain on their original habitats, use an additional grouped stand or occupy separate display positions. Include the small honeybee, ladybird, flowers and other retained details in the chosen arrangement. A cover described for the set does not automatically accommodate a different stand or rearranged habitat group.
Choose the view before comparing receiving space
| Model | Record in the finished view | Check again after a change |
|---|---|---|
| Blue morpho butterfly | Wing position, complete habitat and retained smaller details. | The furthest wing tip and front-to-back projection. |
| Hercules beetle | Attached wing arrangement, horns and complete support. | The whole profile, rather than the body alone. |
| Chinese mantis | Chosen pose and the full habitat beneath it. | Outlying legs, upper details and neighboring habitats. |
Use a reference photograph of your completed arrangement when requesting fit confirmation. Identify which parts belong in front and which details must remain visible from the side. That gives the supplier a clearer question than an insect count or a request for any case marked 21342.
If you later change a pose, update that record before closing the cover. The aim is to retain the selected arrangement without relying on a wing or leg to bend past the enclosure. Follow the model’s own instructions when changing attachments or handling a habitat.
An open stand has both an empty and a loaded outline
Wicked Brick’s 21342 product is an open acrylic display stand. It lists W28.6 × D20.4 × H10 cm for the stand alone, and W35 × D22 × H27 cm with the collectibles. It also describes embedded studs and an information plaque.
The first tuple does not describe the top of the insects once arranged on the stand. If you want an additional cover, send the receiving supplier the complete with-model configuration and your actual poses. A case intended for the original habitats should not inherit compatibility with an aftermarket raised stand.

Likewise, embedded studs describe a feature to inspect, not every receiving point or permitted alternative pose. Obtain the exact stand instructions. Keep any plaque in the combined outline instead of allocating the same front area to both a habitat and its label.
Compare the enclosure descriptions without inventing a cavity
The three enclosure descriptions below were read on 19 October 2026. They are supplier figures, not our measurements or physical fit tests. Their size lines do not explicitly identify a clear interior, so they cannot be ranked as three usable cavities.
| Exact source | Published size | Boundary still needed |
|---|---|---|
| Brickcessories LDC024.02 | Assembled 520 × 180 × 240 mm. | Tuple axes, usable cavity and complete outside. |
| MWC Display Case | Measurements 38 × 20 × 20 cm. | Axis labels and inside/outside definition. |
| Scoparius 21342 | Box size 40 × 20 × 25 cm. | Axes, cavity and applicability to the selected version. |
Brickcessories describes a gloss-black base, aluminum corner brackets and screws, with clear, black or printed rear choices. Its 4.5 mm and 3 mm material descriptions do not identify which finished surfaces define the receiving space. Keep this exact product separate from other 21342 products carrying the same brand.
The MWC size line should not be combined with another manufacturer’s opening or stand arrangement. Its statements about stacking and top-plate loading do not provide a verified load rating for your furniture, pets or another loaded case.
A sliding door and ring light belong to a selected configuration
The observed Scoparius address redirects to its mirror-case product. The page offers several base and lighting configurations. It describes a USB-connected top ring light and sliding door for named ring-light versions; that does not establish a sliding door on a plain black or wood-grain base selection.
Ask which complete dimensions, opening and included parts apply to the version being quoted. Keep a printed rear, a mirror floor and lighting as separate choices. UV printing describes the background treatment; it is not a tested UV-filtering specification for the clear enclosure.
Plan the habitat and cover movements separately
Confirm which enclosure component is intended for routine opening, where it moves and where it rests. Then consider how you reach the model parts you expect to change. A closed-case size does not provide the route for lifting a habitat or changing a wing attachment.
Use the 21342 habitat, stand and enclosure worksheet with the LEGO shelf case guide and collection measurement guide. Confirm the actual grouped display, then the usable cavity, whole exterior and access at its final location.
