Choose a LEGO Hogwarts Express display case by set number and scene layout. For Collectors' Edition 76405, decide whether the train and platform stay under one cover or occupy separate enclosures. Then account for the ticket, minifigures, base option and access to the engine lever and passenger scenes. A case for 75955 is a separate fit decision.
Keep 76405 distinct from the other Hogwarts Express builds
The official 76405 reference describes an approximately 1:32 train with engine, tender, a three-compartment passenger car and a station platform, with 20 minifigures. Its model reference is over H26 × L118 × W20 cm.
Those numbers are not separate measurements for the engine, passenger car, platform and every figure arrangement. Nor does the scale label establish compatibility with a model-railway display track. Use the actual supplied LEGO arrangement and the intended case supports.
The Kingdom Brick Supply 75955 listing names that different set and gives approximate inside L52.0 × W20.0 × H16.8 cm, outside L53.5 × W21.5 × H17.7 cm. These are not a compact alternative for the 118 cm 76405 reference. Confirm the exact set, pieces and layout covered by its compatibility statement.
The FantasMall Harry Potter category separately lists 76405 and 76423 with Hogsmeade Station. A theme category or a familiar locomotive color does not make those products interchangeable.
Choose how the platform relates to the train
| Layout | What stays together | What to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| One complete enclosure | The train, platform, ticket and planned figure groups share a case. | The actual assigned positions, full depth and access along the complete scene. |
| Train and station in separate cases | Each part has its own cover and base. | Both footprints, each package's contents and whether the two cases sit beside one another or separately. |
| Train with grouped figures and ticket | The train remains the main subject, with dedicated smaller presentation pieces. | Which figure plates or ticket stands are supplied and how they relate to the base. |
Wicked Brick describes placing the station platform in front of or behind the train in its 76405 case. That is a specific scene choice, with designated track/stud positions, rather than an instruction to move any other maker's supports freely.
Flying Box explicitly describes two cases, one for the train and one for the station. A split display may suit the way you want to read the scene, but it also creates two furniture footprints and two cover-opening routes. A single overall set dimension cannot answer both.
Compare the complete package and the maker's size definitions
The following descriptions were read on 17 October 2026. They are published specifications, not physical tests, a ranking or a guarantee for every platform and minifigure arrangement.
| Product | Published size | Configuration question |
|---|---|---|
| Wicked Brick 76405 | External W138 × D26 × H29.3 cm. | Choose the intended platform side, ticket position and full scene. Obtain clear interior above the finished base. |
| Flying Box two-case package | Train case L49 × W7 × H8 in, base 49.5 × 7.5 in. Station case L17.5 × W7.5 × H11.5 in, base 18 × 8 in. | The case lines do not label inside/outside. Verify the actual split and receiving space for each part. |
| iDisplayit 76405 | Inside L120 × W22 × H30 cm; outside L122 × W24 × H31 cm. Acrylic and timber base choices. | Confirm the actual clear space and scene for the selected base, including ticket and figure plates. |
| FantasMall 76405 | 120 × 25 × 30 cm size sequence; the page's FAQ identifies stated sizes as internal. | The line does not label individual axes. Confirm their order, exact exterior and selected background configuration. |
Keep Wicked Brick's explicit external definition with its figures. A quoted outside height cannot supply the free space above the train, track and base. Its platform position and ticket support are part of the intended arrangement, not extra capacity inferred from the long rectangle.
Flying Box's train-only height should not be compared with LEGO's whole-build height as if both describe the same assembly. The station has its own taller case. Check each actual component group rather than concluding fit or failure from those unlike height lines.
iDisplayit labels interior and exterior, but the selected base still matters. FantasMall gives a general approximate exterior increment in its FAQ; obtain the actual finished dimensions rather than turning that rule of thumb into an exact calculated furniture footprint.
A timber insert changes the receiving assembly
iDisplayit's description says its timber option places 19 mm timber on top of a black base, within the case. Its acrylic choices are different assemblies. Ask how the quoted interior is defined for the selected variant instead of assuming every base leaves identical height above the mounting surface.
The same listing describes a small clear ticket stand and four clear plates for the set's 20 figures. Those plates group the characters by their associated film scenes. Confirm their actual placement and attachment; supplied presentation pieces should not be assumed to be permanently fixed to the case base.
Wicked Brick describes an angled ticket stand, track positions and a custom plaque. Keep the ticket's full supported outline separate from the train's length, and make sure the intended side of the platform remains readable.
Background choice is another field. iDisplayit's page uses both vinyl-applied and directly printed wording for its backdrop; confirm the actual supplied treatment rather than resolving that inconsistency from a photograph. FantasMall's FAQ says its background version cannot be removed. Choose that option with the intended long-term view in mind, without treating it as a fit specification.

Allow access to the engine and the passenger scenes
The official 76405 description identifies a top engine lever that creates a rocking movement and three light bricks in the passenger car. Decide how you will reach those features. A static train scene beneath a cover does not prove room for the movement or for hands operating it.
Keep initial assembly separate from everyday opening. iDisplayit recommends two-person assembly and a flat resting surface for its long case. Those are product requirements, not a universal instruction to carry a loaded train case with two people or to support only its ends.
The 75955 Kingdom Brick Supply listing expressly says its case is not designed for relocation with LEGO inside. Retain that restriction for that product. Do not transfer a supplier's general moving or stacking claim to another case or assume it establishes a documented load limit.
Check the entire cover route, the receiving place for removed panels and access to figures at both ends. With two cases, repeat those checks for the station instead of treating the train's successful opening as proof for both.
Use the blank Hogwarts Express scene worksheet to record the set, platform side, one- or two-case package, ticket, figure plates, base and feature access. The LEGO shelf-case guide covers the receiving furniture, while the collection measurement guide covers the complete chosen outline.
Common questions
Must the train and platform share one case?
The cited products offer different arrangements, including a stated two-case package. Choose the scene you want, then verify both contents and receiving spaces.
Does a timber base leave the same usable height?
Obtain the selected assembly's dimension definition. An insert inside the enclosure occupies part of that assembly and should not be ignored.
Can I choose a 76405 case using a 75955 listing?
Use the exact set and complete scene. The cited 75955 product is a separate enclosure with its own dimensions and compatibility statement.
