Choose a LEGO Family Tree display case after deciding which photographs or keepsakes will hang from set 21346. Blank holders and filled holders can create different outlines around the branches. The useful enclosure is the one that receives your personalized arrangement and allows the changes you intend to make later.
The photos and keepsakes are part of the receiving outline
LEGO’s official Family Tree guide describes 16 holders for photographs, notes, cinema tickets or other chosen items, along with small accessories and storage within the tree’s base. Its model reference is over H29 × W18 × D18 cm. That reference does not measure every added photograph or custom decoration.
Choose the actual contents before comparing cases. A small portrait facing forward, a wide ticket extending sideways and a handwritten note are different objects. Record their real dimensions and positions on the completed tree, including any projection beyond the leaves.
Include the model’s lower scene and all accessories you want visible. Leave unused pieces identified with the set. Decide whether the base storage must remain conveniently reachable once the enclosure is in place; that is a separate requirement from seeing the trunk through a clear front.
Two photo-size suggestions are not unit equivalents
The official guide suggests 35 × 45 mm or 2 × 2 in photographs. These are two different sizes and shapes. Do not convert one into the other or treat either as a guaranteed maximum accepted by a holder or case. Choose your actual print, try the intended presentation according to the model instructions and record its finished outline.
| Content | Keep in the record | Receiving question |
|---|---|---|
| Photograph | Actual width, height, orientation and holder position. | Does the whole print remain clear of the chosen enclosure? |
| Ticket or note | The complete object and the text to keep visible. | Does its projection or angle change the display outline? |
| Extra decoration | The selected object and its actual support. | Is that customized arrangement included in the maker’s confirmation? |
When an irreplaceable original is involved, decide separately whether a reproduction is the appropriate display copy. A brick holder and an ordinary clear enclosure do not establish conservation-grade support or a tested light-filtering environment. Keep the original’s care and storage requirements separate from this case comparison.
Compare labelled cavities with whole exterior footprints
The following descriptions were read on 19 October 2026. They are supplier specifications without physical fit, photo-preservation or enclosure-performance testing by DisplayCasePro. Keep the published axis labels and inside/outside definitions attached to the exact product.
| Source | Published figures | Use in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Wicked Brick | W26 × D26 × H32.3 cm. | Inside/outside boundary is not labelled. |
| Kingdom Brick Supply | Approximate inside L23.2 × W23.2 × H32.8 cm; outside L24.7 × W24.7 × H33.4 cm. | Separate receiving cavity and furniture footprint. |
| Flying Box | Case L8.25 × W8.25 × H12.5 in; base 8.75 × 8.75 in. | Case boundary unlabelled; reserve the larger base footprint. |
| iDisplayit | Inside L26 × W26 × H36 cm; outside L28 × W28 × H37 cm. | Compare the personalized tree with the inside, not the outside. |
A width near 26 centimetres appears in both an unlabelled size line and a labelled interior. Those figures do not describe the same boundary merely because they share a number. Ask for the actual clear space above the finished case floor and the whole selected exterior.
Kingdom Brick Supply’s 28 × 28-stud description is another base reference, not a map of the tree’s photograph holders. Flying Box describes LEGO parts on its base, but the short description does not identify their exact receiving positions. Obtain that arrangement instead of assuming the case grips every customized tree in the same place.
An empty-holder photograph does not measure filled-holder clearance

A printed rear can surround the branches with a setting, while a clear rear leaves the room visible behind them. Compare that effect with the actual photographs you intend to show. A busy rear design can be a different visual choice from a simple background; it does not establish different receiving space.
The photograph is a CubeBuff gallery example, not a measurement or an assertion that another supplier uses identical hardware. The selected CubeBuff product description also excludes a separate accessory information plaque. Keep each maker’s package distinct from another product that expressly includes one.
Plan changing a photograph and reaching the base separately
Wicked Brick specifically describes lifting the clear case away from its base and returning it to grooves afterward. Reserve that complete movement and a place to rest the removed cover. A shelf just above the closed case can prevent the intended access even when the display fits underneath it.
For the other enclosures, ask for their own normal opening method. A screw count or a generic assembly video does not identify the part intended for repeated photo changes. Keep fingers, the selected print and neighboring branches clear of that route according to the actual instructions.
If you plan to use the base storage, ask whether its normal access is possible in the chosen model position or requires handling the tree. The presence of storage within the LEGO model does not make a case base a drawer or establish a method for carrying the loaded enclosure.
Keep the custom arrangement with the case confirmation
Save a reference view showing the real prints, their holder positions and the complete lower scene. Send it with the actual outline and the selected case/base/rear version. Ask the supplier to confirm that arrangement, the clear interior, whole exterior and routine opening, rather than accepting a broad statement about all 16 holders.
Use the 21346 photos and access worksheet with the collection measurement guide and LEGO shelf case guide. Update the outline when you replace a print or add a keepsake, so the enclosure record continues to describe what is actually displayed.
