Choose a LEGO Bird of Paradise display case around the actual 10289 leaf and flower arrangement, including its black pot. Compare labelled clear interiors separately from built-up box dimensions, then check how the exact case opens. The official tallest-leaf reference is not a measured height for every completed display.
The reference describes a leaf limb, not a universal case requirement
LEGO’s English-language 10289 description says that the leaves and flowers can be repositioned and identifies the black brick-built pot. As a guide, it gives the tallest leaf limb as over 46 cm high and the pot as over 13 cm in diameter. The source is an English Norway page; its commercial terms are not being applied to other markets.
Keep “tallest leaf limb” in the measurement note. It is not a fixed whole-plant width, depth or verified floor-to-top dimension for your pose. Subtracting 46 from a supplier’s 47 cm inside height would not establish a 1 cm clearance: the first reference is qualified, and its reference object differs.
Place the assembled model on the support you intend to use. Record the complete highest point, the broadest leaves and flowers and the full depth of the chosen arrangement. Retain the pot’s outline in that record rather than sizing the case only around the stems. If the pose changes later, recheck the resulting outline.
Only some product records label the numbers as inside dimensions
These original pages were read on 19 October 2026. Figures below retain the suppliers’ axis names and qualifications. They are source descriptions, not our physical measurements, verified fit results or a ranking of cases.
| Source | Published dimensions | Boundary to retain |
|---|---|---|
| iDisplayit | Inside L39 × W39 × H47 cm; outside L41 × W41 × H48 cm. | Explicit inside/outside distinction, SKU EC393947-BLK. |
| Scoparius | Box 35 × 35 × 50 cm. | Axes and internal/external boundary unlabelled in the read main. |
| EasyCase | Approximate built-up L35 × W35 × H50 cm. | Built-up wording does not establish a clear interior. |
| Goodstuff / Display King | Approximate internal L35 × W35 × H50 cm. | Internal qualification; retain selected DK-10289-NB item and options. |
| ONBRICK Icons page | 10289 table row: internal L400 × D400 × H480 mm. | Multi-model page; select the actual Bird of Paradise variant. |
The ONBRICK page initially presented a Fiat 10271 selection, while its model list and dimension table included 10289. Use the exact 10289 row and confirm the selected item. The first image or current price on a multi-model page does not establish the Bird of Paradise configuration. Its approximate “extra 10 mm on each side” wording is not a precise outside-height specification.
The repeated 35 × 35 × 50 tuple does not identify one construction
Scoparius describes a mirror floor, a 2 cm raised base and 3 mm acrylic. Its woodgrain base is described as PVC. EasyCase instead describes screw-free assembly and an included manual. The Goodstuff product is titled as a Display King case with screws and lists 3 mm panels and a 10 mm WPC base.
Keep those constructions separate even where the printed numbers match. WPC is not a statement of solid timber, and an unlabelled box size is not interchangeable with an explicitly internal size. Repeated dimensions also do not identify a shared manufacturer or guarantee the same leaf clearance.
Request the clear interior above the finished base, the whole footprint and the exact opening instructions. Some Australian product pages warn that photographs may illustrate general appearance. Confirm the selected base and background in the item record instead of treating an illustrative image as the final specification.
A secured top and a lid placed on top imply different questions
| Construction statement | Source context | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Top secured to the rest of the case | iDisplayit describes 16 screws and 3 mm panels. | Ask which part is removed during ordinary access; do not assume a loose lid. |
| Lid placed on top | ONBRICK describes metal-cube assembly, 4 mm body panels and a 6 mm base. | Confirm the selected 10289 lid-removal route and resting place. |
| Screw-free assembly | EasyCase describes its assembly method. | Obtain the normal opening sequence; assembly wording alone does not identify a door. |
| Removable custom background | The Goodstuff / Display King description distinguishes a custom rear. | Confirm the selected rear and its removal steps; it does not establish how the enclosure opens. |

iDisplayit specifically says its case is not designed for relocation with the LEGO inside. Keep that instruction even if the assembled enclosure feels rigid. Reassembly, stacking or general carrying language elsewhere does not independently authorize moving a loaded display. Follow the selected supplier’s instructions for the empty case and handle the model separately as directed.
Set the leaf arrangement before choosing a rear panel
Choose the front view from the position where you will normally see the plant. Check which leaves overlap and whether a flower or leaf projects toward the rear. A mirror floor or illustrated rear changes presentation; neither replaces the clear-space check for the actual pose.
Record whether the selected background is clear, printed or removable. ONBRICK mentions custom doors and lighting holes by request; those are not automatic features of every listed variant. If access to a rear fitting matters, obtain the exact configuration before treating a generic option as included.
Use the LEGO shelf-case guide to compare the whole exterior with the furniture. Reserve a place for the removed cover or lid as well as the displayed enclosure.
Keep the pose, cavity and opening in one record
Save the complete plant measurements, leaf arrangement, exact case SKU, finished base, labelled inside and outside axes, selected rear and opening instructions. Mark any built-up or unlabelled tuple as unresolved until the supplier clarifies it.
This creates a useful comparison across the five sources without turning a nominal 50 cm box, a leaf-limb reference or a compatibility title into proof that your finished plant fits.
