Choose a LEGO G 500 display case around one complete 42177 arrangement: the vehicle’s settled stance, roof equipment, spare wheel and any supplied presentation support. Keep opening access separate from that resting outline. A case for a car on its wheels and a named Climbing or Rock edition require their own receiving specifications.
The roof rack and rear equipment belong in the outline
LEGO’s official 42177 specification gives a model reference of over 22 cm high, 43 cm long and 20 cm wide. It identifies working steering, raised suspension, a six-cylinder engine, gearbox and two differential locks. The hood, doors and tailgate open.
The named accessories include a ladder, spare wheel and roof rack. Record their actual final positions with the vehicle. A body measurement that omits rear equipment or the highest roof item can leave the enclosing profile incomplete, even when the set number is correct.
Choose the details that matter from your intended shelf height. A roof-focused view differs from a side profile or an opened engine view. Use that choice to prepare a complete front, side and overhead record, rather than turning the official dimensions into a guaranteed allowance for any pose.
Separate the resting arrangement from an operating task
| Display brief | Include in the record | Confirm separately |
|---|---|---|
| Closed vehicle on its wheels | Settled steering and suspension, roof rack, ladder and spare wheel. | Complete receiving outline and locating-floor arrangement. |
| Hood or doors already open | The exact static panel state and furthest projection. | Opening sweep and hand approach if the feature will be used. |
| Tailgate presentation | The rear door, attached equipment and chosen viewing direction. | Space behind the scene and the actual removal route. |
| Named supported edition | The selected Climbing or Rock product and its complete vehicle-support combination. | Documented contacts, supported outline, cavity and whole exterior. |
Record the stance as it rests. A wheel turned toward a side wall, an inclined support or a different suspension position can alter the occupied profile. This guide does not prescribe a suspension adjustment or a way to balance the car on a presentation accessory.
A case accepting a deliberately opened hood has not demonstrated room to open it there. Decide where steering, gearbox and differential demonstrations will happen after normal access is established. The resting scene and the route for your hands need separate entries.
Read dimensions alongside the exact type of source
The following descriptions were read on 18 October 2026. One result is a Technic collection, one is a dated model announcement and another expressly identifies its supplier. This is a specification and format comparison, without DisplayCasePro physical fit or protection testing.
| Source | Published information | Keep unresolved or distinct |
|---|---|---|
| Flying Box Technic collection | Ten cards, including the named 42177 case. | Collection cards are not each product’s dimensions; its 42177 leaf is examined below. |
| Elevenmark Designer Edition | Climbing and Rock options; lift-off access, plaque and 3 mm clear acrylic. | No numeric enclosure size in the full description read. |
| Blacked Brick 42177 | External W52 × D35 × H27 cm; locating cutout. | Clear cavity, complete stance and intended panel state. |
| iDisplayit announcement | Model article dated 18 July 2024, linking related off-road displays. | A model story rather than a current 42177 case-size specification. |
| Display Geek 42177 | Case 11.3h × 19.25w × 10.25d; base 19.75w × 10.75d. | Unit and inside/outside unlabelled on that line; expressly made and shipped by Flying Box. |
Elevenmark’s Product dimensions heading is followed by construction material wording, not a numerical cavity. The two edition labels do not supply a terrain height or complete loaded outline. Ask for a labelled drawing of the exact selected edition before comparing it with a wheel-level enclosure.
The dated iDisplayit article discusses a roof-rack tent, while the cited official LEGO specification identifies the roof rack without establishing that function. This comparison does not turn the article’s tent wording into a verified model mechanism or an extra display height. Keep the official features and your actual build as the basis of the enquiry.
The reseller and Flying Box describe the same supply relationship
The individually read Flying Box 42177 page gives case L19.25 × W10.25 × H11.3 inches and a 19.75 × 10.75-inch base. Its case line does not label inside or outside. Keep the larger base in the furniture plan.
Display Geek expressly says its product is made and shipped by Flying Box. Its matching numerical sequence is therefore useful relationship information, rather than a second independent measurement. Preserve the unit omission in that reseller line and use the maker’s stated inches without inventing an interior boundary for either.
Compare Blacked Brick’s external dimensions with confirmed exteriors of compatible configurations. Its locating cutout does not describe the same thing as Elevenmark’s edition labels or an arbitrary extra ramp. Obtain the receiving-floor arrangement for the car you actually intend to show.

Keep the cover route clear of the roof and rear equipment
Elevenmark describes lifting the case for access. Confirm how that selected product opens and where the removed section will rest. For other constructions, obtain their own routine-opening instructions; screws and corner blocks do not by themselves identify an access door.
Check the removal route past the roof rack, ladder, spare wheel and any deliberately raised panel. A closed case can fit a shelf while leaving no convenient approach to the tailgate or engine. Resolve normal access at the intended location before filling nearby spaces with other models.
Choose the rear treatment for the main view. Blacked Brick offers clear or printed rear choices. A print can frame one side of the vehicle while replacing the view from behind; it cannot resolve missing interior dimensions or confirm a supported stance.
Use the G 500 stance, supplier and access worksheet with the collection measurement guide. Keep every unresolved size definition with the exact product and edition.
Common questions
Can a Defender case specification establish G 500 fit?
Match the actual 42177 build and support to its own compatible product. Similar off-road styling does not transfer another vehicle’s receiving arrangement.
Does a Climbing edition label specify the case height?
The sampled Designer Edition description supplies no numeric enclosure size. Obtain the selected edition’s complete supported outline, labelled cavity and exterior.
